This behaviour tends to be inadvertently reinforced unknowingly by owners when their dog is still a puppy. Owners love the attention and excitement that their puppy shows them when they come home, or come downstairs first thing in the morning, so they reward their dog for all this excitement and jumping up with praise, reward, attention and affection! When their little puppy grows up into a much bigger adult dog and continues jumping up, then it’s no longer fun! A dog’s claws can be very sharp too, and although some people are happy to put up with this behaviour, it isn’t always welcomed by children, the elderly or infirm people. I will teach you how to train your dog into understanding that only by being calm and relaxed, and ALL FOUR PAWS on the floor, gets them the attention they desire, not jumping up!
